Spoonflower & Gifts

This sure has been a busy winter for me. I had to wait to share these, since they arrived last week. Baby gifts for some expectant friends!

I had to make two, since the friends are both due fairly close to each other. One is having a boy and the other a girl. So little baby boy got some cool owls with funky hats. Little baby girl got elephants holding umbrella with a yellow birdie.

I may even make a few bibs to sell in my Etsy shop at some point. I love gifting something handmade but also practical. These can be washed and dried and are easy to wear for baby. 

In other fun news ~ I am finally designing for Spoonflower! You can visit my shop on there at Craftiness by B on Spoonflower. I have one design I am going to try and load this coming week. It's from hand drawn and water color design I did by hand. I've always wanted to see my artwork on fabric. So this is a fun way to try it out and see how it will look for sewing projects. So far I will have one finished design but do have plans for two others soon. 

Spoonflower gives you a chance to put your designs on any number of materials. From stretchy lycra to 100% cotton. I can see my designs on things like bags or little gift ideas. If I get real ambitious, I will design things like "cut out dolls" where it's a pattern already on the fabric. The crafter would simply buy the fabric and it would have all the pieces and instructions printed on it. Cut, sew, there you go! So stay tuned for any future designs I might share with you.

Star Wars Snowflakes DIY

May the Force Be with You! Oh yes, I am 'that' nerdy/geeky friend who is in fact giddy with happiness over going to the movie theatre! Usually my spouse and I rarely go, since it costs over $20 for two adult tickets (forget buying the snacks, I'm not The Empire rich!).

To get you in the spirit of the fun, here are some cool DIY paper snowflakes - Star Wars themed! This rad dude named Anthony Herra designed these, free of use. Here is the direct link to his AnthonyHerraDesigns website with instructions and downloads to print then cut.

This is something I feel kids will find difficult. I had to trace the cut pieces on several folded areas to get the shape cut nicely. And you use an exacto knife, much easier then tiny scissors. It took at least one practice snowflake for me to get one looking nice. But it sure is fun and they are very large, they fit a 11 x 8" paper. You can print the pdf to cut from if you follow the link in the website listed. Have fun, be sure to decorate those droids nice! 

Up and coming crafts, my pets

Is it really November already? How time can fly by when autumn arrives! Just an update on a few things I am working on for my etsy shop CraftinessbyB.

I am inspired by many things, be it from a pattern book or something I saw. Sometimes it's children's things that get me thinking "I can make that into something else!" I saw these adorable felt animals as finger puppets in a crafting magazine. And I thought I'd do my own design of the animal but make them into little plush mascots. They will sit upright and be just big enough for a desk or bookshelf. And to make them a little more attractive I am doing a lot of machine sewing for them. I love to hand stitch but sometimes it's too much to do an entire project that way. Above is a fox in orange, I also plan to make a deer and maybe a polar bear.

I have two new holiday greeting card designs. You might figure out the above one fairly easily. I draw my cards by hand then do colored pencils and water colors. I'd like to have these completed soon if I can get my home printer to cooperate again. 

And of course I have these distractions around my house (ie: the pets). I swear they make it their daily mission to keep from completing projects in a timely manner. But that's ok just look at how cute they are!
